Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov believes that the Bulava strike and reconnaissance complex from DeViro is replacing the Russian Lancet loitering munition. He published footage of a Ukrainian drone operating against enemy targets.
«Until recently, the Russian „Lancet“ dominated the sky. Today, it is being supplanted by solutions from the participants of the Brave1 defense innovation cluster. The Bulava strike and reconnaissance complex from DeViro is already performing combat missions and surpasses the „Lancet“ in key indicators,» the head of the «Mintsifra» wrote .
According to him, Bulava is capable of destroying targets in difficult conditions in the Russian rear. The published video shows that the drone hits priority targets: REBA and air defense systems, in particular «Buk» and «Tor». It is noted that Bulava has a number of unique characteristics that are not disclosed for security reasons.
Previously, the drone, which is called Mace on the international market, was presented at Eurosatory 2024. Then the following characteristics of the Ukrainian analogue of the Lancet were reported:
- wingspan about 1.6 m, length about 1.5 m;
- take-off weight 11 kg, of which 3.6 kg is for the warhead;
- Flight time at a cruising speed of 100 km/h is 50 minutes.
Features such as machine vision with automatic target detection and tracking, spoofing detection, and electronic warfare (EW) resistance were also claimed.
«Currently, we are sorely lacking such means to defeat the enemy, and in „middle strike“ drones we are critically lagging behind the Russians. Work in this direction is extremely important and necessary, and the appearance of such means is extremely pleasing and gives hope for more effective counteraction to the enemy at the front,» commented Fedorov’s post in the DeepState project.
In February last year, the Minister of Digital Transformation reported that Ukraine has up to 7 manufacturers of Lancet-type drones, some of which have the potential to become mass producers.
