This was told to Forbes Ukraine by Vlad Shimov, the company’s head in Eastern Europe.
The launch of the new direction in Ukraine comes against the backdrop of a global shortage and growing demand for microcircuits, fueled by the development of artificial intelligence technologies. Chip design is a highly specialized industry that requires unique expertise. As the company notes, the training of one qualified specialist in this segment can last more than seven years.
«The demand for them is growing rapidly, so we have begun to actively develop this direction in Ukraine,» said Shimov.
The newly created unit will operate within Capgemini’s global ecosystem, which collaborates with the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. Ukrainian engineers will be involved in chip architecture design and hardware integration projects.
Capgemini Engineering (created on the basis of the Lohika company) is among the largest IT employers in Ukraine and is a resident of the «Diya.City» space.
Recall that in early 2025 it became known that Ukraine plans to start its own chip production. Creating conditions for the development of the semiconductor technology industry was identified as strategic goal No. 14 in the Strategy for Digital Development of Innovations until 2030, which was finally presented to the public.
