Google CEO Sundar Pichai said he is creating web pages using AI assistants for programming.
«I was just playing around — either with Cursor or Replit — trying to create my own web page with all the information sources I needed in one place. I could type in a location and get all of that,» Pichai said, according to Business Insider.
The programming technique " vibe coding,» which involves engaging AI chatbots, was described in February 2025 by Andrey Karpaty, a former OpenAI researcher and now director of artificial intelligence and computer vision for autopilot at Tesla. Since then, it has gained popularity among IT professionals, and some representatives of prominent tech companies believe that vibe coding can increase programmers' efficiency .
«It’s exciting to see how effortlessly you can do it now. Compared to the early days of coding, things have come a long way. It’s a great feeling to be a programmer at this point,» Pichai comments on his programming methodology.
However, he noted that software engineers are still needed despite the development of AI programming tools. This view of the IT industry is shared by many technology leaders, who believe that AI can give a boost to developers, but will not replace them. Instead, it is changing the nature of work — from template coding to more flexible and creative collaboration between man and machine.
However, not everyone shares this opinion. Previously, dev.ua conducted a small survey and found out in which cases vibe coding is appropriate and useful, and whether IT professionals are satisfied with the quality of code written by artificial intelligence.
