Contera.ai, which automatically optimizes marketing using AI, became the first startup from Ukraine to receive funding from Techstars Tokyo Accelerator. What are the investment conditions?
This was stated by the founder and CEO of Contera.ai, Emin Alekperov.
«A big milestone for Contera.ai. We are pleased to announce that we are now working on Contera with the support of Techstars Tokyo Accelerator 2025 in Japan — as the first Ukrainian startup selected for this program,» he wrote on LinkedIn.
The head of Contera.ai added that this year the program received a record number of applications from over 120 countries — the most competitive in Techstars history.
In a comment to Forbes Ukraine, Emin Alekperov clarified that Techstars will invest $120,000 in exchange for 5% of the shares and $100,000 in the format of a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity). This is a legal agreement between a startup and an investor that allows the investor to purchase a stake in the company in the future (usually during the next funding round or during a liquidity event).
Contera.ai is a modular SaaS platform that operates in a $12 billion market and aggregates data from various sources, such as: CRM, Google Analytics, third-party analytics systems (Ahrefs, SEMrush), advertising cabinets, and competitor sites to find weaknesses in paid channels and on-site SEO and correct errors without a user request or prompt.
Alekperov told dev.ua that developing the product cost about $15,000 of his own funds; previously, Contera.ai received a grant from YEP Accelerator in the amount of $25,000, which was the first for the company.
According to him, after funding from Techstars, the startup plans to make analysis and launching marketing campaigns «simple, accessible, and effective» within the next three months.
