On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Rakuten Viber opened pre-registration for Ukrainians in the new Viber Dating service, which «expands the Viber superapp ecosystem.» Profiles in this dating service are tied to Viber profiles and phone numbers.
«Viber Dating will help Ukrainians meet real people online: all dating profiles are tied to Viber profiles, and therefore to phone numbers. In order to maintain privacy, phone numbers in Viber Dating will be hidden», — the company’s press release notes.
In February, Viber conducted a survey to find out what problems Ukrainians faced on dating apps. The results showed that almost half of respondents (45%) considered false information in profiles to be a key problem, and a quarter of respondents (26%) considered fraud to be such a problem.
The company says that Viber Dating solves these problems, as all profiles are real, created by people who already have an account on Viber. At the same time, the feature works in compliance with all privacy and confidentiality requirements. The dating profile is separate from the main account, and users' phone numbers on Viber Dating are always hidden.

After the launch of the service, which will happen soon, Ukrainians will be able to search for new acquaintances, communicate and view their matches directly in the Viber application, the company notes.
