Artificial intelligence on the government portal "Diya" (Diya.AI) has received a new feature - now users can communicate with a virtual assistant using voice. The update is currently available in the web version of the platform, and it is planned to be integrated into the mobile application later.
Roman Kisly, head of the WINWIN AI Center of Excellence at the Ministry of Digital Affairs, spoke about the launch of the new tool in a column on RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the new feature will allow users to simply press a button and voice their question without having to type. Artificial intelligence will instantly recognize the request, analyze it and provide a clear answer or direct to the necessary government service. At the same time, the voice assistant will duplicate its answers with text in the chat.
"This is a huge step towards accessibility and inclusion. Voice functionality is critically important for older people, people with visual impairments, or simply for those who find it inconvenient to type text on the go. The state should understand you from half a word, and now it literally hears you," Roman Kysly emphasized.
The developers note that users can freely combine communication formats: start a conversation with voice, continue with text, and then return to voice messages. The team is currently testing the stability of the function on the web portal before its full launch on the smartphone, where the greatest demand is expected.
Earlier, the AI director of the Ministry of Digital Affairs also told how the voice assistant on the Diia portal copes with surzhik.
The new head of the Artificial Intelligence Center at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Roman Kyslyi, is also convinced that the creation of our own domestic LLM model is part of the state's AI sovereignty.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs has appointed Chief AI Officer: Roman Kyslyi will head the AI Center of Excellence and lead Ukraine to the top 3 countries in the world in AI
