Currently, 96,000 specialists work in the resident companies of «Diіa.City». Every month, 2,500-4,000 are added, said in an interview with DOU «Head of the project office of «Diіa.City» Natalia Denikeeva.
According to her, the biggest antagonists of «Diіa.City» in companies have always been CFOs and chief accountants. «They think that something has definitely been done with „Diіa.City“, it’s something new and it’s scary. Or it could be that the company is quite small and it’s difficult for it to meet the compliance criteria every month,» the specialist explained.
Also, one of the reasons why not all companies join the special regime is the complex corporate structure of some companies and the headquarters, which is not located in Ukraine. «There are certain companies that have an LLC in Ukraine, and a representative office cannot be a resident of „Diіa.City.“ It is difficult for companies to move from a legal point of view,» she explains.
Denikeeva admitted that the project office «Diіa.City» has a goal — to attract all IT companies and startups that can into the tax space. «We would really like „Diіa.City“ to be such a basic hygienic norm in the Ukrainian technology sector. Not by force, but for companies to understand that being a resident of „Diіa.City“ is natural,» she says.
The office expects that 2,000 companies will become residents of «Diia.City» by the end of 2025. And as of now, says Denikeeva, «Diia.City» already has 70% of the market.
«And the more companies there are here, the more protected „Diіa.City“ will feel. The same applies to people who work in resident companies. If tomorrow 300,000 specialists will be part of „Diіa.City“, I very much doubt that anyone will even have the thought, will come up with something to do with the special regime,» the head of the project office noted.
At the same time, she noted that about 200 companies left «Diіa.City». «Some of their own free will, and some on our initiative. We can only act as written in the law. Even if the company forgot to do something on time, we, with all our desire and understanding, will not do anything. This was the case with Revolut, it is a cool company, an image resident. But if it has not complied with the provisions of the law, we cannot do anything. The only thing we can do is warn in advance, remind about the deadlines for submitting reports,» she says.
It also often happens, says Denikeeva, that a company is excluded from «Diіa.City» simply because of the human factor — the accountant changed, someone forgot something, they changed their email or phone number, they didn’t receive a reminder and forgot that they had to submit a report.
«In total, 60% left „Diіa.City“ on our initiative, and 40% left on their own,» she states, adding that sometimes a company leaves and then wants to come back. «According to the law, it cannot return for a year, so we stay in touch.»
