Discord will soon require age verification to access "adult" content

Starting in March, all Discord users will default to “Teen Safe Mode.” Unlocking adult content and accessing age-restricted communities will require a verification process (usually a one-time process).
Discord's massive security update includes communication settings, restricting access to age-restricted spaces, and content filtering, Engadget writes .
Users who have not verified their age will see sensitive content blurred. Additionally, age-restricted channels, servers, and app teams will be blocked. Direct messages and friend requests from unknown users will be routed to a separate inbox.
For adult users, lifting these restrictions at launch will require one of two verification methods. You can either record a video selfie for age verification, or provide official ID to Discord’s vendor partners.
The company emphasizes that age verification selfies never leave a user's device. Discord also says that documents sent to partners are deleted quickly — "in most cases immediately after age verification."
While Discord says the process will be a one-time process for most people, some may need to submit multiple forms of verification. It also notes that additional verification options will be available in the future, including an age-based model that runs in the background.
The child safety changes will go into effect globally in early March. Both new and existing users will be required to be verified to view adult content.
