«The rights of our 19-year-old client were recently grossly violated by a public representative of one of the largest banking institutions in Ukraine. Over the past four days, Ms. Karina has become the object of a massive wave of public harassment and unfounded accusations. As a result, not only she suffered, but also her family, including her father, who is an active serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,» ADDATI GROUP said .
According to the lawyers, «strong psychological pressure and a wave of aggression on social networks» caused a serious deterioration in Karina Kolb’s health. Doctors allegedly diagnosed her with an acute reaction to prolonged stress, insomnia, and prescribed medication.
«The co-founder and public representative of one of the largest banking institutions in Ukraine allowed himself to spread personal information, which caused mass harassment of our client and gross interference in her private life. We drew attention to the public statement, which partially admits the wrongfulness of previous actions. At the same time, as of this moment, no personal apology has been made to the injured party,» the bar association noted.
ADDATI GROUP reported that they have monitored the media space and collected the necessary evidence. The lawyers said that within the next three days, pre-trial demands will be sent to Universal Bank JSC and Oleg Horohovsky with a proposal to settle the dispute.
They also reported on the main conditions of such a settlement:
«We will separately send a legal request to the banking institution regarding information that appeared in the national media about the possible existence of an internal chat room for bank employees, where photos and videos of clients obtained during the identification procedure (KYC) may be distributed for discussion and ridicule of such individuals,» ADDATI GROUP stated.
The association noted that if Oleg Horohovsky continues to communicate in the previous style, they may go to court.
Earlier, monobank co-owner Oleg Gorohovsky said that one of the financial institution’s clients conducted video verification in the banking application against the background of the Russian flag. According to him, this was the reason for blocking her accounts.
Later, military and public activist Sergei Gnezdilov wrote that he managed to contact the girl and found out that she was allegedly photographed against the background of the Slovenian flag, not the Russian one. In addition, her father turned out to be a soldier in the Defense Forces.
After that, the National Bank announced that it was seeking an explanation through a post in Threads by Oleg Gorokhovsky.
«After so many years of war, the tricolor causes anger. I saw the flag and reacted quickly, without thinking. I did it as a person who is tired of everything related to Russia. My attitude towards this flag has not changed. My attitude towards the act is the same,» Gorokhovsky commented on his act .
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, announced the opening of proceedings and the beginning of an investigation into the circumstances of a possible violation of the legislation on the protection of personal data and banking secrecy.
