«I am completing my service in the Ministry of Defense. For 1.5 years, I served as the head of the IT Department of the Ministry of Defense. I am leaving this position voluntarily, on my own initiative, without conflicts with the team. I had the honor of leading teams of hundreds of people who created many important services and tools for the military,» he said on LinkedIn.

«During this time, we managed to transform UIT from a „system admin“ format to an institution that determined the pace and direction of digital transformation in the army. We doubled the staff. And we began reorganization into the Main IT Directorate — this process will be completed in the coming weeks. Of course, we failed to implement or did not have time to implement much. But the team continues to work — step by step there will be a result,» Berestov announced.
According to him, the ministry team has been preparing for his departure for the last two months. «We found a strong successor. I spent enough time to conduct a high-quality onboarding of the new head. Perhaps this is one of the few examples when such processes take place in a civilized manner and without harm to work and efficiency,» Berestovy notes. However, he does not disclose who will head the department in his place.
He added that he remains a military serviceman and will continue his service where he can make an even greater contribution to Ukraine’s victory. However, he did not name the unit or branch of the military.
Meanwhile, it is known that the personnel changes at the Ministry of Defense affected not only Berestovy. The other day, a servicewoman, and previously the PM at the Ministry of Digital Affairs, who mobilized at Berestovy’s call to his first unit, and later transferred to the Ministry of Defense, Charlotte Khmelnytska, announced that she was also leaving the ministry.

Meanwhile, Artem Romanyukov, head of the Digital Transformation Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, who has served with Berestov from the very beginning and who, together with Mr. Oleg, transferred to the Ministry of Defense, is likely to remain — there is no information on his pages about a change in place of service.
