The Czech defense-industrial holding Czechoslovak Group (CSG) of entrepreneur Michal Strnad has agreed to expand cooperation with the Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armored Vehicles — now it is about the production of engines for drones and guided missiles directly on the territory of Ukraine. The agreement was signed on Monday at one of the world’s largest defense forums in Paris.
The Czech defense-industrial holding Czechoslovak Group (CSG) of entrepreneur Michal Strnad has agreed to expand cooperation with the Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armored Vehicles — now it is about the production of engines for drones and guided missiles directly on the territory of Ukraine. The agreement was signed on Monday at one of the world’s largest defense forums in Paris.
CSG AviaNera Technologies and Ukrainian Armored Vehicles have agreed on a strategic partnership in the development and supply of launchers for Ukrainian guided missiles and unmanned systems. The result should be the production, assembly and testing of engines in Ukraine — this will be carried out by Ukrainian Armored Vehicles under CSG’s license.
«We are already talking about thousands of engines per year, which, thanks to cooperation, will be produced in Ukraine. We can further increase production capacity depending on how the military conflict develops,» says Pavel Chehal, head of AviaNera Technologies.
Initially, we are talking about engines with a thrust of 900 to 1,600 newtons — these are the ones that are in the greatest demand in Ukraine, and CSG is already supplying them to the country. According to Chehal, the company’s goal is to become a leader in the segment of engines for unmanned aerial vehicles not only in Ukraine, but also in general.
Under the terms of licensed production, the production facilities and equipment remain the property of the partner — in this case, Ukrainian Armor. The licensee retains the intellectual property, documentation, and know-how, and the partner pays licensing fees or other agreed-upon payments.
Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Armored Vehicles, called the partnership an important step towards strengthening Ukraine’s capabilities in the field of guided missiles and unmanned systems. The agreement also envisages the possible future creation of a joint venture — the proportions of the parties' participation in it have not yet been disclosed.
«The joint development of production facilities and the future creation of a joint venture will allow not only to integrate modern European technologies into Ukrainian platforms, but also to jointly develop new generations of precision-guided weapons systems. We are building a long-term alliance, thanks to which the Ukrainian defense sector will become even more self-sufficient and more deeply integrated into the European security architecture,» Belbas added.
The partnership between the companies began in November last year, when Ukrainian Armor received a license from CSG to produce ammunition — for which Strnada Holding receives a payment of an undisclosed amount.
AviaNera Technologies CSG was founded only last fall. This year, the company is targeting a thousand engines, which should generate revenue of approximately one billion Czech crowns.
