The parliament voted in favor of the relevant bill today.
A fine of UAH 5,100 to 7,000 is imposed for transferring one’s own card or accessing it for fraudulent transactions.
Buying, storing, or selling someone else’s payment cards or data can result in a fine of up to UAH 170,000 or up to six years in prison. In case of repeated commission of such acts, the punishment can reach eight years in prison.
Separate liability is provided for forging payment instructions and improper use of electronic money — up to a fine of UAH 85,000 or up to four years of imprisonment.
The bill also provides for amendments to the Criminal Code regarding illegal actions with payment instruments, individual accounting information, bank and payment accounts, and electronic wallets.
