According to Gerasimenko, the uptime monitoring market is indeed crowded, but almost every tool he used himself eventually ceased to be simple: simple availability monitoring gradually turned into a full-fledged incident management platform with a per-user fee, additional credits, and a bunch of features he never used. Therefore, he deliberately made a simple, «boring» product — with one fixed price, no payment for team seats, and no unexpected bills.
The service checks HTTP endpoints at intervals of up to one minute (GET, HEAD, or POST requests with an expected response code) and sends notifications to email and via HMAC-signed webhooks when the service goes down — with built-in deduplication so that an unstable endpoint doesn’t flood your inbox with notifications.
There is a keyword check in the response body — this allows you to catch «silent» failures when the server still returns code 200, but the content is already incorrect.
Dumza also builds response time graphs with hourly detail and a 90-day uptime calendar, and incidents are automatically opened after several consecutive failed checks and closed with a fixed duration. Public status pages are still under development and will appear in one of the next releases.
