A Ukrainian created the GeoSpeedrun app — like Duolingo, only for studying geography
An indie developer decided to create a flag quiz for himself with multiple attempts and no "mile-long" animations between questions. Thus was born GeoSpeedrun, a mobile app for geography fans.
An indie developer decided to create a flag quiz for himself with multiple attempts and no "mile-long" animations between questions. Thus was born GeoSpeedrun, a mobile app for geography fans.
The developer announced the launch of the application on Reddit.
GeoSpeedrun is a dynamic mobile quiz on the knowledge of world flags and capitals, based on the mechanics of speedrun. Here you can compete not only on accuracy, but also on speed, challenging players from all over the world in the global leaderboard.
The application offers two main modes (flags and capitals), and for true connoisseurs, there is an Extreme Mode with rare flags and confusing answer options.
The application's functionality also includes:
several game formats: by region, difficulty or for all countries at once;
quick rounds designed for short daily practice;
a system of daily series to maintain regularity;
tracking progress and improving results over time;
dissemination of results on social networks;
daily reminders so you don't interrupt your workout routine;
Clean and minimalist design for distraction-free learning.
According to the developer, the application is written in Flutter using Firebase for the backend and AdMob for monetization.
The developer is currently working on the functionality of adding friends and the ability to organize duels between them on knowledge of flags and capitals.
The immediate plans include the launch of full-fledged online battles, where the same quiz will be generated for both opponents, and the winner will be the one who copes with the task faster. In addition, expanded information about the countries will appear on their pages.
A large educational block is also being developed: interactive lessons on basic geography (continents, mountains, rivers, lakes) with accompanying tests and thematic quizzes to consolidate the material.
