During the Q&A session of the Strategic Council of the Diia.City United business union, Shelemba said that the implementation of the plan is aimed at increasing coverage, increasing throughput and improving the energy stability of the network.
lifecell will expand coverage to 98%. DVL plans to reduce the number of «white spots» in lifecell coverage, particularly in rural areas. According to Shelemba, the operator’s coverage is now 94%, while competitors have 95-98%. The company plans to increase this indicator to 97-98% within the next 1.5 years.
Network capacity will increase by 33%. After buying frequencies in the range of 1935-1940/2125-2130 MHz, the company will continue to increase the bandwidth of the network. According to Shelemba, the integration of these frequencies will not require significant additional investment, as the customization can be done at the software level.
Energy sustainability of the lifecell network. To ensure the stable operation of the base stations during power outages, the company purchased 32,000 lithium-polymer batteries, which will increase the autonomy of the stations from 4-6 hours to more than 8 hours.
Mykhailo Shelemba also said that during the first quarter of 2025, the company plans to increase the bandwidth of the network by 30-40%, providing improved communication for its 9.9 million subscribers.
We will remind that during the IT Arena 2024 conference, a dev.ua journalist spoke with Mykhailo Shelemba, who now heads the combined group of telecom companies DVL (Datagroup-Volia-lifecell) after the agreement with French billionaire Xavier Niel. He emphasized that now DVL is the largest international telecom group present in Ukraine.
