The EIT Jumpstarter program initiated by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) named the Ukrainian startup that won in the Rebuild Ukraine category. A total of 10 startups from Ukraine were shortlisted, which were nominated in the EIT RawMaterials, New European Bauhaus, EIT Urban Mobility and Rebuild Ukraine categories.
This year’s final of the EIT Jumpstarter program took place on November 28 in Budapest (Hungary) as part of the EIT Community conference «The Next Decade of Innovation for the Future of Europe. The 10th anniversary of the ЭIT Regional Innovation Scheme», says the press release.
Speakers of the event were also representatives from Ukraine: Iryna Savytska, CEO and co-founder of Bank of Memories and Nataliya Denikeyeva, head of the Diia City project office at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
The EIT Jumpstarter program unites and identifies the most promising innovative startups that are based on scientifically based ideas and aim to solve global problems and societal challenges. This year, the Rebuild Ukraine category, which was presented exclusively by Ukrainian startups, received special attention.
Their goal is to develop technological solutions that will be aimed at solving the issues and challenges associated with a full-scale invasion and will focus on the recovery of Ukraine.
The shortlist of this year’s program included 10 startups from Ukraine:
Unconventional Lithium Production (EIT Raw Materials); UrbanGeoWonders (New European Bauhaus);
Drive in Five! (EIT Urban Mobility);
AgRe (Rebuild Ukraine);
CathodMiner (Rebuild Ukraine);
Demining Ukraine with us! (Rebuild Ukraine);
Drone Non-Destructive Testing (Rebuild Ukraine);
Golos (Rebuild Ukraine);
INFINITY MAGNITUDE BATTERIES (Rebuild Ukraine);
VeraNet (Rebuild Ukraine).
The Drone NonDestructiveTesting startup became the winner in the Rebuild Ukraine nomination. It provides advanced remote diagnostics to detect and rank infrastructure defects by size and hazard using UAVs and artificial intelligence analytics.
Monitoring is done in real-time, which helps create comprehensive reports to improve security, optimize maintenance and support data-driven decisions.
The next enrollment for the program will begin in January 2025, but pre-registration is already open. Plans for 2025 include additional support for talent from Ukraine, the Western Balkans, the Mediterranean, and innovators from the outermost regions of the EU.
About EIT Jumpstarter
The EIT Jumpstarter program aims to train and transform innovative ideas into startups. In 2024, 49 teams from 21 countries participated in the program, competing in 9 categories and receiving grants totaling 150,000 euros.
During 7 months, the participants identified and tested the best business model for their science-based innovative ideas. The goal of this process is to turn their ideas into market-ready startups.
Out of 600 applications for the training, 180 innovators were selected and the 49 best teams were shortlisted and had the opportunity to present their ideas during a pitch in Budapest.
We will remind you that earlier the research center StartupBlink, which provides ecosystem development services and individual analysis of the global innovative economy, published a new ranking of the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2024. One of the challenges for Ukraine is whether its IT talents will return from abroad after the end of the war.
«The main challenge is extraordinary support from other European countries.» Ukraine entered the list of the best 50 countries in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2024
