The gadgets were in the compartment of a Renault minibus driven by a 49-year-old resident of Lviv region, the State Tax Service reported. In total, customs officers counted 54 units of new MacBook Neo with a total value of about 1.5 million hryvnias.
According to the driver, he purchased the equipment in Poland, allegedly for personal use.
«The driver of the minibus tried to swerve into a gadget enthusiast, but something went wrong,» the State Border Guard Service commented.
Recall that in early March, Apple introduced an inexpensive MacBook Neo laptop with the A18 Pro chip, which first appeared in the iPhone 16 two years ago.
Earlier, the general manager of Asbis-Ukraine, the official distributor of Apple gadgets, said that the efforts of the BEB, tax and customs authorities have reduced the share of «gray» iPhones in Ukraine from 80% to 60%.
