Newly appointed Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced how many soldiers went to the North-West Frontier Province and how many Ukrainians subject to military service are wanted.
Answering a question from Iryna Friz, a People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity Party, whether the renewed Ministry of Defense plans to index payments to military personnel in 2026 and when this will happen, he emphasized the need to audit the department’s finances — this will be a top priority.
«We need to understand how the Ministry of Defense, which received UAH 300 billion less than the previous year, will function this year. We first need to deal with the human capital that is already there today <…> I don’t want to be a populist — I want to be a realist. The Ministry of Defense falls into my hands with minus 300 billion, 2 million Ukrainians who are wanted and 200,000 — in the North-West Frontier,» said Fedorov.
He emphasized that only after conducting an audit and resolving the relevant problems will it be possible to predict further actions regarding which resources and which categories should be increased in cash support. However, he is convinced that money will be found to increase payments to the military.
As a reminder, the parliament voted to appoint Mikhail Fedorov as head of the Ministry of Defense. Fedorov promised to resolve the problems of the CCC, the issue of providing brigades with drones, and increase payments to military personnel.
