Former Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, after resigning from his position, intends to develop his own venture fund, which will finance defense developments.
Fedorov spoke about this in a video interview with Channel 24.
«I want to create a venture fund that will attract Western funds to invest in Ukrainian startups and developers,» he stated.
Among the priority technologies, Fedorov named cheap missiles.
«I am sure that they are the future of warfare with artificial intelligence. These are cheap missiles that can be used as weapons to deter strikes and deter further steps,» the former minister explained.
He named frontline robotics and sensorization as his other technological priorities.
«We need to think about how to remove infantry from the front line. We need to robotize the front line as much as possible so that people don’t spend months in dugouts under drones. Our task is to make the battlefield saturated with sensors that react to the movement of enemy infantry and immediately transmit data for reconnaissance and destruction of the enemy,» explained Mikhail Fedorov.
He says he started doing this at the Ministry of Defense, and now he wants to continue these developments in the private sector.
According to him, the fund he created with Western investments will not only invest in various projects in Ukraine, but will also «bring projects to Ukraine that will help us win.»
Another area of his work after leaving the post of Minister, Fedorov called the creation of an analytical Think Tank on military topics. «In essence, this is an organization where analysts are engaged in thinking up how to stop the war, defeat Russia as a whole, how to generate ideas. This is a team of policy makers who come up with the rules of the game for the following ideas,» added Mikhail Fedorov.
The task of such a Think Tank, as he says, is to «generate a vision of the further stages of the war, be relevant, and suggest to the government what to do so that we implement these changes.»
Mikhail Fedorov also admitted his participation in startups related to artificial intelligence and defense tech.
«Our partners will finance it 100%.» Fedorov spoke in detail about how he sees elections during the war and how military and Ukrainians abroad will vote
«We cannot allow Russia to determine what Ukraine will be like. Mikhail Fedorov recorded an address to the people on the eve of the Rada’s appointment of the Minister of Defense. He hinted at elections even during a protracted war
