Ukrainian Fire Point can produce up to 90 Flamingo missiles per month. They fly twice as far as Tomahawks

Less than a year after the presentation of the Flamingo cruise missile, the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point began producing about three missiles per day — approximately 90 units per month.

This is stated in the profile of the chief designer and co-owner of Fire Point, Denis Shtilerman, published on July 17 by the American publication The Atlantic.

According to journalist Simon Schuster, the Ukrainian missile is launched from a cargo platform and has a range that is approximately twice that of the American Tomahawk cruise missile. In addition, the Flamingo is equipped with a more powerful warhead.

At the same time, as The Atlantic notes, the production of one Ukrainian missile costs about half as much as a Tomahawk. One reason is the use of jet engines converted from Soviet-made aircraft engines.

«This design solution gives the rockets a strange look — their rear end is convex. But Stillerman doesn’t care about aesthetics. He uses the cheapest available components,» writes Schuster.

This is not the first time Fire Point has announced the scaling of its own production. In early July, Denis Shtilerman reported that the company had completed the development of its own turbojet engine for the Flamingo rocket and was already assembling the first ten test samples.

«We are immediately building several production facilities for our profit, without waiting for codification, without waiting for money,» said Stillerman at the time.

In addition to the Flamingo cruise missile, the company is working on the Ukrainian FP-9 ballistic missile. In April 2026, its model was first shown at an exhibition in Rzeszow, Poland. According to the declared characteristics, the missile has a range of 855 km and a warhead weighing 800 kg.

In June, Denis Shtilerman said that after the completion of tests of the FP-9 engine, Ukraine will be able to strike Moscow with its own ballistic missile. According to him, test flights were supposed to begin this summer.

The designer also reported that Fire Point is working on a cheaper Ukrainian alternative to the Patriot system, which in the future should be able to intercept Russian ballistic missiles.
