Odessa programmers created an application to warn of air threats. How "Vlyuger" works

The «Technari» design bureau from Odessa has developed a new application «Weather Vane», which is part of the «ePPO» system and is designed to warn of air threats.

«Vlyuger» is a specialized application that shows the presence and direction of air threats, such as cruise missiles and «shaheeds.» According to Gennady Suldin, co-founder of the Tekhnari Design Bureau, the program was initially developed for the military, but later became available to all users.

«Initially, this application was conceived as a very simple radar on mini-meters for a mobile group or a stationary air defense post. And then, when we found out that in this way we do not reveal any sensitive data, and it cannot be used by the enemy, we learned that this application is for everyone,» explains Suldin.

The program uses a system of concentric circles with radii of 15, 30, and 45 kilometers to determine the distance to the threat. As the developer notes, these distances were not chosen randomly:

«The speed of a cruise missile is approximately 15 km per minute. That is, 45 km is the same 3 minutes that are theoretically enough for a person to hide in the safest place around,» Gennady Suldin noted.

According to the developers, the system is capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously:

«During several extreme night attacks by Shaheds, we have already received precise confirmation that the system can correctly track several targets. That is, give several vectors if, for example, 2-4 groups of Shaheds are flying not far from a person.»

The application does not require registration or authorization and works throughout Ukraine. The history of requests is not stored, and all user data is reliably protected, noted Gennady Suldin. The system uses color coding to indicate the level of threat:

  • Green — no threat
  • Yellow — alarm, safety must be taken care of
  • Red — immediate threat, you need to hide immediately

«There are no restrictions on the program, no registration, no confirmation, it installs and works,» emphasizes Suldin. In the first four hours after launch, the application was downloaded by more than a thousand users.

In the first days of operation, the application has already proven its effectiveness, the developer added.

«In the first three days, we learned that yes, for a reason. We were written by a person who, with the help of „Vlyuger“, a relative of a military man, saw that these threats were close and hid. And her window was broken by the explosion,» says Suldin.

KB «Technari» continues to work on improving existing systems and developing new ones. In particular, the developers plan to produce 500-700 small arms simulators during 2025. Work is also underway to expand the functionality of «Vlyuger» and develop a version for iOS.

The program is available for Android users on Google Play, and a version for iOS is expected in the near future, the bureau’s co-founder Gennady Suldin told Ukrainian Radio. Odessa.
