«It is difficult to find people with domain expertise in specific segments. For example, we have projects with equipment that require safety certificates, ASPICE certification in automotive, sets of specific items in the industrial segment, etc. These people are gone, and the demand for them remains stable,» Yavorskyi said in an interview with DOU.
He is convinced that with all these generative AI tools, the general outlook on hiring will change. «If you were a senior developer, now you should be a senior developer plus a business analyst. If you were an architect, you will become a business architect. Added to the engineering profession will be the need to understand the business domain. Clients are increasingly looking to see if a person can translate business problems into requirements for the development and vision of the final software product. Those companies that learn how to work with it correctly, offer such a service, train people, will be more needed in the market of the future than companies that simply follow instructions,» Yavorskyi believes.
In Ukraine, according to the top manager, they did not stop attracting new engineers to Ukraine, it just became less. «Any business, not only IT, reacts poorly to instability and unpredictability. It is difficult to operate in an environment where you do not understand how the rules of the game will change tomorrow. Don’t get me wrong, there is a war going on in the country, and I am in no way presuming to say whether the right decisions are being made. But, let’s say, the change in taxes for „Diya.City“, where there were supposed to be guarantees for 25 years… This makes all market participants nervous and does not help to show stability,» says Yavorskyi.
According to him, taxes can be high or low, the question is that they should not change every quarter. «As a business, we would like to see the expected working conditions in the horizon of several years. We would like to have a transparent scheme for booking critical specialists. In order for business to develop, people need to go abroad for meetings, there is nothing new here. I think most companies have already solved the problems with energy and network infrastructure. It seems to me that the current instability is hurting the country as a whole, not just one industry. As far as I know, other industries have the same requests. Everyone wants to understand that their key specialists will come to work,» said the top manager of GlobalLogic.
He added that the company’s load on business trips abroad is growing disproportionately. «People from Poland and Slovakia travel to the meeting, because specialists from Ukraine cannot. This prevents us from working efficiently. Who should usually go to the client? These are project managers, architects, team leaders, that is, those who actually drive the business internally. If they can’t, and someone else goes from another location and then conveys what was said, it complicates the work,» said Yavorskyi.
