AI increases the efficiency of GlobalLogic teams by tens of percent. Why, despite this, there are not fewer developers and what specialists the company is looking for?
GlobalLogic already uses AI on over 60% of its projects. This helps teams work faster, but at the same time it changes the requirements for developers. The company predicts that in the coming years, the demand for narrow IT specialists will decrease, while employers will increasingly look for engineers who understand the entire product creation process.
This was told to DOU by Andriy Yavorsky, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Technology at GlobalLogic.
According to him, AI already allows to increase the efficiency of teams by tens of percent. However, this does not mean that new projects automatically require fewer people. A typical GlobalLogic team, as before, consists of 30-50 specialists, and on large projects it can be even larger.
Instead, what engineers do is changing. Some of the work of writing code can be delegated to AI, while humans will have to pay more attention to product architecture, validation of results, security, and interoperability of different systems.
Yavorsky believes that because of this, companies will gradually need fewer developers who work only with frontend or backend. But the role of full-stack specialists who can work with both parts of the product and understand how it is tested and launched will grow. Similar changes, according to his forecast, will also affect other areas: DevOps, test automation, UI and business analytics. But this does not mean that such professions will completely disappear.
"I have a feeling that you can conditionally add a "plus one" to all current positions. If you are a Senior Developer, then you are a bit of an architect and DevOps. If you are an architect, you become a business consultant who must understand the business problem end-to-end and turn it into a technical solution. If you are a Middle Engineer, you must expand your understanding beyond your field: know how agent systems work and how all this is implemented," said Yavorsky.
Experience requirements will also increase. For example, a senior developer will increasingly be expected to have knowledge of architecture and DevOps, and a middle engineer will be expected to have an understanding of related technologies and the work of AI agents.
At the same time, Yavorsky does not believe that artificial intelligence will be able to independently create all complex products. This will still require professional engineers, although their tasks will become more complex.
“Complex products are not created by vibecoding (which I personally like). They are developed by the same large teams of professional engineers who simply shift the focus from writing code to designing architecture, testing solutions, validation, creating the right agent architecture, security and isolation systems, etc.,” says Yavorsky.
GlobalLogic also expects new areas of work to emerge. In particular, engineers will be needed to implement AI in business, create robotic systems, test AI performance, and develop technologies for industries where security is particularly important.
The company is currently hiring developers, testers, DevOps engineers, and junior specialists. According to Yavorsky, there is no sharp transition to hiring only new AI specialists yet.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that GlobalLogic and Hitachi Digital Services will merge into a new company, Hitachi Digital Inc., which is scheduled to launch on April 1, 2027. It will bring together about 35,000 specialists in 27 countries and focus on digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud services, and enterprise automation.
Hundreds of Ukrainian GlobalLogic engineers are working on energy projects. The company does not plan to go to the defense industry or Ukrzaliznytsia. Why?
