Google has introduced a number of new features for its Translate app that turn the service into an AI tutor and personal assistant.
This is stated in the official blog of Google Ukraine.
The most anticipated innovation is the «practise pronunciation» tool, available on Android. Unlike simply listening to text, the new feature uses artificial intelligence to analyze the user’s speech in real time. The system points out mistakes and helps hone your accent before a real conversation. So far, the feature is launching in the US and India, but the company is preparing a global release.
The new features will work on the basis of the Gemini model. Thanks to this, the Translator has gained the following capabilities:
Slang: AI now recognizes complex idioms and modern teenage slang (like clock it or mogging), which was previously a problem for algorithms.
Natural dialogues: In real time, Gemini captures nuances of meaning and preserves the speaker’s original tone and pace.
Contextual suggestions: users receive more translation options adapted to a specific situation.
Celebrating 20 years of Google Translate and… the launch of a top-requested feature! 🎂

For Ukrainian users, the offline translation function and visual translation via Google Lens remain relevant, which now adapts the inscriptions in menus or on road signs to the background of the image more quickly. The Circle to Search function is also gaining popularity, allowing you to instantly translate content in any application on Android.
Earlier, the German company DeepL introduced a new tool, DeepL Voice, designed for simultaneous audio translation. The technology is focused on the corporate segment and automation of communication in multilingual teams.
