Tech giant Google has announced a $5 million grant for the development of Obriya, a digital ecosystem for the Ukrainian labor market. The funds will be used to scale the system and expand its functionality for job search and training.
The new partnership was announced on June 25 during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdansk. The signing ceremony was attended by Ukrainian Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev, Google Vice President for Government Relations and Public Policy in Europe Annette Kroeber-Riel, and Deputy Economy Minister for Digital Development Oleksandr Tsybort.
The funding from Google will help integrate new AI-based tools into the system. In particular, it will launch services for automatic job and training selection, user skills assessment, digital profile creation, and e-employment. The system will also forecast long-term labor market needs based on big data analysis.
«For us, this is not just an investment in technology. It is an investment in people and the economic recovery of Ukraine. We are pleased that Google, for the first time in history, is supporting the creation of a digital labor market infrastructure. Thanks to this, we will be able to connect job seekers with training and employment opportunities more quickly, and businesses with the specialists they need,» said Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev.
Google Vice President Annette Kroeber-Riel added that with this grant, the company seeks to support the Ukrainian government, which is using technology to build a sustainable economy in difficult conditions.
Recall that «Obriy» is a single digital environment that accumulates data on vacancies, professional skills, educational opportunities, and public services. The project is jointly developed by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and the direct implementer is the Office of Effective Regulation (BRDO).
