Google has cut staff in its Cloud division, with the layoffs hitting design and user experience researchers.
This is reported by Business Insider, citing sources. It is noted that for the past two years, Google has been making constant cuts to optimize and encourage employees to use artificial intelligence more in their daily work.
The exact number of employees affected by the cuts is unknown, but CNBC claims that about 100 employees could be laid off.
According to the insider, some of the positions that were cut were related to quantitative user experience research — work that involves using data to understand user behavior.
It is reported that Google has cut some of its cloud design teams in half, and many of the employees were from the U.S. Some of them have been given until early December to find new positions within the company.
Recall that the company previously fired without warning more than 200 contractors who worked on improving and evaluating Google’s artificial intelligence products, including Gemini and AI Overviews. The dismissal concerns contractors who were hired, in particular, by the American company GlobalLogic.
