Rockstar Games' highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will require a significant amount of free space on users' devices. The standard edition of the game will take up 210GB of storage, which will force many players to optimize their game libraries ahead of its November release.
According to PlayStation Game Size, the base version of the game, priced at $80, will require 210GB of storage on the PlayStation 5. The size of the $100 Ultimate Edition, which will include additional content, is currently unknown. While exact specs for the Xbox Series X|S have yet to be revealed, it's expected to be identical.
Given the size of the files, the developers will open the possibility of pre-downloading the game a week before the release - November 12. The weight of the sixth part of the franchise is twice the size of Rockstar's previous major project - Red Dead Redemption 2. The increase in volume is explained by the fact that the GTA 6 map will be three times larger than the world of RDR2, and the developers promise the studio's traditionally high attention to the smallest details of the environment. For comparison, the PC version of the Ukrainian STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl takes up 196 GB of disk space.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Market analysts predict that the project has every chance of becoming the largest release in the history of the industry. According to some reports, the game could sell 25 million copies during pre-orders alone, generating about $2 billion in revenue.
