EPAM is reducing benefits for sole proprietors from 2026. The full range of corporate benefits and social guarantees will be preserved only for specialists working under the legal regime of "Diya.City". Such a decision may lead to an increase in gig contractors in the company.
The most common type of cooperation between companies and specialists in "Diya.City" is gig contracts. This is a civil law contract, under which a gig specialist undertakes to perform work in accordance with the tasks of a special regime resident as a customer, who in turn is obliged, in addition to payment, to provide the specialist with social guarantees and benefits. In addition, "Diya.City" has lower taxes for gig contractors compared to individual entrepreneurs.
SoftServe has long since transferred IT workers to gig contracts, and their number continues to grow, writes DOU.
"Today, the majority of employees in Ukraine are gig contractors, and we continue to increase the size of the team using this form of employment," the company reported.
Ciklum believes that this format of cooperation has its advantages, but they do not force specialists to choose it.
"Gig contracts provide financial predictability - fixed and stable payments, clearly defined obligations and minimal administrative burden. Specialists do not need to independently issue invoices or track changes in tax legislation. For those who cooperate with international clients, this model simplifies financial transactions from abroad," the company explained.
In both companies, benefits and social privileges do not depend on the form of cooperation. And so far, they do not plan to repeat EPAM's practice.
Ciklum says they provide equal access to corporate and social programs, which include paid vacations, sick leave, additional days off for public holidays, health insurance, etc.
SoftServe has a similar position: “The benefits offered by the company are virtually the same for employees across different collaboration models.”
