Razer already showed off Project Ava at last year’s CES, but back then it was an abstract presentation that showcased the concept of a «gaming coach».
Project Ava, according to Razer, could act as «the ultimate AI esports coach» and «an omniscient AI gaming guide.» Essentially, it’s an AI assistant that monitors gameplay and provides real-time voice prompts.
This year’s version aims to bring that concept to life. The new Project Ava gadget is a cylindrical desktop device with a transparent outer shell that displays a full-length animated character. The device has an outward-facing camera at the top, and the base has a perforated, patterned platform that gives the character a sense of depth.
The bottom ring glows in Razer’s signature green and features the company’s logo. Designed to sit next to a laptop or monitor, the device functions as a dedicated display for the AI assistant, separating it from the game screen rather than overlaying it on the gameplay.
The character Razer showed off is called Kira, but there are other characters to choose from. Razer says the avatars will be customizable, including creating your own from scratch. The company is also working with influencers to offer gamers characters that look like them.
Razer says Project Ava can help gamers manage their schedules and calendars, choose their clothes, or what to eat for dinner. The AI also tracks its owner’s habits and moods and provides personalized motivational tips, like not forgetting to shower.
