Ukrainian designer releases Hourbloom — a time tracker in the Mac menu bar for freelancers
Ukrainian product designer Kamila Kosenko created Hourbloom, a handy time tracker in the macOS menu bar designed specifically for freelancers and hourly-paid professionals. The tool allows you to start a task countdown with one click and track the growth of today's earnings in real time according to the set rate.
The idea to create an application arose after the designer encountered a large number of routine tasks while performing freelance projects.
"After the layoff, I started taking on freelance projects and suddenly got a lot of work that had almost nothing to do with design: counting hours, updating client spreadsheets, taking notes on calls, remembering how much to bill. There was a separate tool for everything, and I still did half of it by hand. So I decided to make my own," said Kamila Kosenko.
Hourbloom works directly from the macOS menu bar and offers a number of features to automate timekeeping.
Income calculation: the application displays not only the hours worked, but also the amount of money earned per day.
Automatic notes: When you start a video call in Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams, the service automatically opens a note window (no audio or video is recorded).
Sync: Hours worked information can be automatically sent to the client's Google Sheets.
Privacy: The application works without creating an account, and all data is stored locally on the user's device.
The application supports Ukrainian and English languages and requires macOS version 14 or later. The basic version is free, and Pro features can be tested for 14 days. In the European Union, the release will take place a little later due to the ongoing verification of documents by Apple.
“I’m a product designer, and this is my first own product from idea to App Store. There were times when everything was moving painfully slowly, so now I’m very happy and a little worried. I would be very happy if you take a look at Product Hunt and write your opinion in the comments: what is clear, what is missing, what would make Hourbloom better,” the developer noted.
