The Ukrainian Independent Design Bureau has created the «Grim-17» pulsating jet engine for various types of UAVs, which costs only $800.
Oboronka reports that the engine weighs only 2 kilograms and can be installed on small aircraft-type drones. It can operate for 15 minutes, allowing it to fly a distance of about 100 km.
The developers of the «Thunder-17» expect to refine the engine so that it can accelerate drones to 450 km/h. It is made of stainless steel and costs up to $800.
The Nezalezhnoye Design Bureau also created the Myt-2 drone with an electric motor. Now the developers are working on integrating the Grom-17 UAV into this. According to the bureau representative, this will give the drone optimal characteristics for intercepting Shahed kamikaze jet drones.
Recall that in December, the STING interceptor drone of the Ukrainian company «Wild Hornets» for the first time shot down the Iranian-Russian Shahed 238 jet drone, which has a significantly higher speed than the Shahed 131 and Shahed 136 models.
Previously, the CEO of Technari, Gennady Suldin, expressed the opinion that Ukrainian interceptor drones may lose their relevance if the Russians install more powerful engines on the Shahed, because they will not be able to catch up with them.
