Polish indie studio Hypnotic Ants has announced the release date for its new simulator, Medic: Pacific War. The game, in which users take on the role of an unarmed US Army medic on the Pacific front of World War II, will be available in Early Access on Steam on June 4th.
The project, which the team has been working on for several years, offers a non-standard take on war simulators, focusing not on destroying enemies, but on saving human lives.
The main character of Medic: Pacific War is an unarmed US Army medic. Players will have to survive in the extreme conditions of the Pacific theater of operations, where every decision directly affects the survival of their comrades. The gameplay focuses on assessing the condition of the wounded, providing emergency medical care, relieving pain, stabilizing the condition of soldiers and their subsequent evacuation from the line of fire.
The story campaign will begin with the historic attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese aircraft and will guide the player on the path from a trainee medic to an experienced rescuer. In addition, the game will have an «Arena» mode. This is a dynamic test with endless waves of wounded, where users will have to save fighters in conditions of severe shortage of medicines and constant shelling, improving their skills directly on the battlefield.
The developers note that the game will be in early access for approximately one year. During this time, the team plans to release additional story chapters and improve the core mechanics based on community feedback.
«Our game is being developed by a small team, and in order to fully realize the game’s vision and achieve the level of quality we aim for when it’s released, we need to move into early access,» the developers explain. They also warn that the price of the simulator will increase once the full version is released and new content is added.
«STALKER 2 is closely related to war. For us, this project is a million times more than entertainment»: GSC Game World executives spoke about the shooter’s cultural mission
