According to the SBU press service, the evading attacker was caught red-handed right near the local administrative services center while trying to issue another device.
The suspect came into the enemy's sights because he was actively looking for easy money options in various Telegram channels. After being successfully recruited by FSB officers, the man first registered one satellite terminal in his own name, allegedly for household needs.
Later, the criminal decided to scale up his illegal activities and involve other people in the scheme. To register eleven more terminals, he planned to use the passport details of his relative and a dozen local drug addicts, who had previously agreed to give him their details in exchange for money for a "dose."
The SBU officers uncovered this plot in advance, detained the agent, and seized his smartphone, which contained undeniable evidence of cooperation with the enemy. At the same time, the satellite terminal, which the suspect had already registered in his name, was promptly blocked and blacklisted by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Currently, investigators from the Security Service have informed the detainee of suspicion of treason committed during martial law. The man is being held without bail, and for this crime he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
In addition, law enforcement officers are trying to resolve issues regarding the legal qualification of the actions of his relative and other individuals who agreed to participate in this criminal scheme.
As a reminder, the SBU previously detained two residents of Izmail who agreed to register Starlink for the Russian occupiers. They face life imprisonment.
