Job search platform Indeed has created the GenAI Skill Transformation Index, an index that shows how generative artificial intelligence is impacting 2,900 job skills and occupations.
The index does not assess whether AI will completely replace humans, but rather how the application of skills changes and what part of the work can now be done by a machine. The following were analyzed:
cognitive requirements — does the skill require problem-solving and judgment that AI can reproduce?
physical requirements — does the job require physical presence (this is something AI cannot do yet).
All skills were divided into four categories:
minimal transformation,
assisted transformation,
hybrid transformation (AI does the routine, people control),
complete transformation.
41% of the 2,900 skills studied are susceptible to the highest level of GenAI transformation, Business Insider writes .
26% of jobs on Indeed in the last year could be «significantly» changed by AI.
54% of vacancies are undergoing «moderate» transformation — it all depends on the speed of technology implementation and the willingness of employees to reskill.
Nearly half (46%) of the skills in a typical US job are already on the path to a hybrid transformation: AI performs routine tasks while humans provide oversight.
Technical and information roles are at the highest risk, while occupations that rely on physical presence and human contact (childcare, medicine, construction) are at the lowest risk.

This means that businesses need to restructure work processes and training, and it is important for employees to rely on purely «human» strengths: physical agility, critical thinking, empathy, and process management.
