These figures were announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Oksana Ferchuk, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
«Today, the capacity is $35 billion, the forecast for 2026 is $55 billion. The industry has grown 55 times,» she said, noting that three years ago, defense production in Ukraine amounted to about $1 billion per year.
According to Ferchuk, the domestic defense-tech sector has a number of advantages that explain such rapid growth.
«This is not a temporary military boom. This is the birth of a new industry with competitive advantages that no other country has: combat testing of technologies, a short development cycle (weeks instead of years), a direct feedback loop between the front and production,» the minister believes.
In this context, she also drew attention to dual-use technologies, which can give Ukrainian defense companies additional opportunities to market their products.
«Some of the technologies created for the front already have wider applications. Robotic systems for logistics and evacuation are being converted into solutions for search and rescue operations. Firefighter drones, agro-technological solutions, courier drones, logistics solutions, etc. are real areas of scaling,» Ferchuk assures.
Earlier, Oksana Ferchuk stated that Ukrainian DefTech has run into four barriers. She explained how, in her opinion, they can be overcome.
