American-Ukrainian startup Pickpad, which creates a smart order-taking system for restaurants, has raised $200,000. What will the funds be used for?

Yaroslav Tsyganenko, founder and CEO of Chicago-based startup Pickpad, announced that it has raised $200,000 from Singapore-based Antler Fund. The company is creating a «smart» order-taking board that uses sensors and machine learning.

Tsyganenko told Forbes Ukraine about this. The funding will go towards launching pilot projects, improving the product, and «building relationships with restaurants.»

«We are solving a $100,000 problem for 400,000 food establishments in the US (from fast food to middle-class cafes). In total, this is a $40 billion problem,» says Yaroslav Tsyganenko.

Pickpad is creating a platform-based system where cafes and restaurants can place food and drinks when they’re ready to be picked up. The product was unveiled at CES 2025, TechCrunch reports. The modular «smart pad» system connects directly to a restaurant’s POS system, automatically entering customer names into a database.

Currently, two stations operate in Chicago: one at Soloway Coffee, the other at local coffee chain Dollop Coffee.

According to Tsyganenko, the platform will be offered as part of a hardware-as-a-service (HaaS) package priced between $9 and $19 per month per tablet. That includes support, software, and everything else a restaurant needs to get the system up and running. The exact price depends on how many tablets a restaurant uses and whether it chooses to pay annually or monthly.
