DOU and Djinni report new IT market records in March: demand for experienced IT professionals exceeded pre-war levels, hiring increased by $7,000, and the need for AI/ML specialists

DOU: data for January-March
In March, companies published 6,408 vacancies on DOU - this is 42% more than in February last year. However, it was noted that the activity of companies in March was partly influenced by the promotion of vacancies on DOU. In addition, there was a record number of remote vacancies (4,454) and abroad (809).
If we talk about the first quarter of 2025, that is, January-March, companies posted three thousand, or 21%, more vacancies than in the fourth quarter of 2024. This is also 30% more than in the first quarter of last year.
Which specialists were most sought after?
In the first quarter of 2025, the demand for AI/ML specialists (+58%) and architects (+48%) increased the most. However, all categories grew overall except for Technical Writer, SysAdmin, DBA, and Rust.
Also, over the past three months, the most vacancies have been added in Marketing (+328), Front-end (+223), HR (+203) and Sales (+187).
As for March , there were a record 96 vacancies in AI/ML in March, and 98 in Data Engineer. The number of vacancies for analysts almost reached the pre-war level — 423 in March, as did the number of vacancies for designers — 306 in March.
In C++ , there were 59 vacancies in March — the highest level in the last year and a half. Node.js has seen growth over the year: 46% more vacancies than in March last year. In Python, there are a record 204 vacancies since the start of full-scale.
Demand for the most experienced IT professionals (5+ years) exceeded pre-war levels — 1,266 vacancies in March. This is 44% more than in March last year.
All categories are growing, but the most active are for beginners: there are 38% more vacancies for specialists with up to a year of experience than in March last year, and for IT professionals without experience - 61%.
In March, the most sought-after specialists are Front-end, DevOps, Node.js. In other groups, marketing traditionally leads by experience. Among specialists with 1-5 years of experience, the second most popular category of vacancies is analysts.
In which categories is the competition the most intense?
The average number of reviews per vacancy in March was 26.8. And again over 120,000 reviews, just like in January.
Traditionally, the category with the highest average number of reviews remains Front-end — 96 in March. In QA, after a slight increase, the average number of reviews per vacancy began to decrease again — 68.3 in March. In third place — Project manager — with 51.5 reviews.
Unity had record competition — an average of 49.7 responses per vacancy. Java had almost the same number — 48.6.
Djinni: March data
In March, recruiters posted 10,682 job openings on Djinni, almost 700 more than in February.
The biggest growth was for SEO (+37%), Java (+27%), Artist (+25%) and Design (+20%).
A decrease in vacancies is observed in the categories Lead (-21%) and Head (-14%), as well as C++ (-9%).
In March, there was a record number of vacancies with reviews — 14,000. This is the largest figure in the last year: 500 more than in February and 1,500 more than in March last year.
The average number of responses per vacancy decreased from 21 in March 2024 to 16 in March of this year.
Also, last month there was a record number of offers from recruiters — 85,000. The last time this figure was in 2022.
Djinni reports an increase in hirings by $7,000. “Especially in Ukraine and especially developers,” the website added. So in March there were 4 hirings for $8,000 in Ukraine and 2 in Poland. One was for $7,500, also in Poland, and 6 hirings for $7,000 in Ukraine.
Recall that in February , DOU had record competition in Android and iOS/macOS, and Djinni had almost a third fewer vacancies for Java and Golang.
