There are fewer vacancies, more candidates. Where is it easiest to find a job in Ukrainian IT right now?

Competition for jobs in Ukrainian IT has noticeably intensified. In September, there were an average of 38 responses per vacancy on DOU. The most difficult job openings are now for front-end developers, Node.js specialists, and testers, while in Hardware, Embedded, and Security there are significantly fewer candidates for one position.

This is stated in the quarterly labor market review from DOU.

In September, companies published 6,340 vacancies on jobs.dou.ua. Their number is gradually decreasing. For the entire third quarter, there were 6% fewer vacancies than in the second. The number of offers in Marketing, Design, and Front-end decreased the most during the quarter. There were also fewer vacancies for HR, Support, Node.js developers, and Project Managers. Among the areas where the number of offers, on the contrary, increased, DOU names Legal, Security, Hardware, and Architect.

While there are fewer vacancies, there are more job seekers. In September, about 27,000 candidates applied for vacancies through DOU, while in June there were about 22,000.

The toughest competition among developers right now is in Front-end — an average of about 275 reviews per vacancy. Next are Node.js — 185 reviews, PHP and React Native — about 110 each.

There is also high competition among QA — over 110 responses to the vacancy. It has become noticeably more difficult to find work for Project Managers, designers, HR specialists, Product Managers, DevOps, and AI/ML specialists.

The best ratio of vacancies to candidates is recorded by DOU in Hardware, Embedded, Security, and SysAdmin. For example, in September, a Hardware vacancy had an average of about 3.5 responses, Embedded had 6, and Security had 8.

DefTech also continues to grow. In September, there were a record 1,395 vacancies in this segment on DOU. Competition there is also increasing, but so far remains significantly lower than the market average — about nine responses per position.

The top three employers with the highest number of vacancies in the third quarter are related to the Defense Forces and DefTech. Among classic IT companies, the most active were SKELAR, Boosta, and Ciklum.
