This was stated by KAI President Ksenia Semenova in an interview with LB.ua.
Initially, candidates were selected based on their scores in mathematics and physics, and those who passed this stage took additional exams with Fire Point engineers and university specialists. According to Semenova, out of approximately 150 candidates, no one passed the Fire Point exams, and the greatest difficulties arose with physics.
Semenova explained that their level was close to the tasks of the All-Ukrainian Olympiads. Therefore, even good results in the NMT in mathematics and physics were not enough if the applicant did not separately prepare for this format. She noted that it is possible to pass these exams, but it is worth preparing for them throughout the year, and not trying to pass the selection directly during the admission campaign.
The Fire Point program is also significantly different from the usual training of aviation engineers. The company has participated in the formation of disciplines in the design of aviation and missile systems, digital modeling, electronics, control systems, modern materials and production technologies. Separately, students must study the principles of operation of electronic warfare and electronic reconnaissance systems, so that even during the design of the drone they understand how to counter it.
From the second year of training, the students should move directly to production. The internship was planned to be conducted not only at Fire Point, but also at contracting enterprises that manufacture components for aviation and missile technology. Fire Point itself takes on applied disciplines and mentoring its engineers, while KAI is responsible for fundamental training.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that Fire Point is simultaneously participating in another bachelor's program - "Innovative Production Engineering" at KSE University. The company explained then that in Ukraine there is actually no ready "market for rocket engineers", so even specialists with experience in Defence Tech have to undergo additional training.
