«I always wanted to make games since I was a kid, but I didn’t know much about programming until… Grok happened,» Danny Limanset shared his intentions in a post on X.
So far, the designer has created 4 game prototypes using Grok 3. In particular, he said that in this way he generated the code for a retro-gothic shooter inspired by Doom from scratch in less than 24 hours of work.
«It was able to create a procedural level for me every time I rebooted,» he noted.
For comparison, the developer added that he tried to do the same thing with Claude Sonnet 3.7, and it «made this game very poorly.»
«I believe that Grok 3 can be a serious tool for creating quality games. This is the future of games,» Danny Limanceta is confident.
«Game development used to be done by people who could code. With AI, that’s changing rapidly,» said Danny Limanceta. He shared that he envisions a future where artists, science fiction writers, or world builders can tell their stories through games, without the need for a game developer to create for them. «Yes, we’re still going to see scum. But we’re also going to see a net increase in creativity in the world. I’m all for that,» he added.
