ChatGPT users complain about sudden account blocking without warning

ChatGPT users have started complaining about their accounts being suddenly blocked, including those with a paid Pro subscription for $200 per month. Some received no warning and lost access to the chatbot, along with the ability to view their correspondence and work materials. One possible reason is the use of a VPN.
One such case was reported by the owner of a ChatGPT Pro subscription. According to him, the account simply stopped working. Instead of the usual login, an account_deactivated error appeared. The user did not receive any letter with explanations or warnings.
He suggested that the reason could be connecting to ChatGPT and Codex via VPN servers in different countries. The user claims that he used the account independently and protected it with a physical security key.
In response, an OpenAI support representative suggested filing an appeal and explained that such cases are not considered in a public forum. He did not give a specific reason for the blocking.
Other users also complain about the quick rejection of appeals and the loss of access to saved materials.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that OpenAI has introduced restrictions on the number of paid ChatGPT accounts that can be used on one device, as well as on the number of subscriptions paid for with one bank card. Because of this, users may lose access to some of their accounts even after paying for the subscription.
