As Euronews writes, citing the Dealroom.co rating, thanks to its rapidly developing technological environment, Kyiv has become the main «rising star» of Europe, as the Ukrainian capital is home to more than 1,000 technology companies.
It is noted that the number of technology professionals in Ukraine has increased from 75,000 in 2014 to more than 300,000 in 2023.
In turn, among European cities, Vilnius, Zagreb, Prague, Warsaw, and Athens are also represented in the «rising stars» ranking, while Lagos (Nigeria) leads the global ranking, where five unicorn companies have been created.
It is worth adding that the overall ranking of the world’s technological capitals looks somewhat different, and among European cities, only Paris and London are represented in the top 10, while the first places (and in general almost the entire top ten) are held by the USA.
Thus, speaking of Europe, it is Paris that is identified in this year’s Global Tech Ecosystem Index as the leading technology hub on the continent.
The Dealroom.co report analyzed talent, innovation, and technology investment across 288 cities and 69 countries.
