The analyst believes that the creation of the second part of Cyberpunk 2077 will cost about 1.5 billion zlotys (about $416 million), and a significant part of this amount may go to the development of multiplayer. In this case, the release date of the project may be postponed to the fourth quarter of 2030.
Earlier, Chrzanowski also confirmed that a new major DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will definitely happen. According to him, the expansion will be released in May and will sell 11 million copies over the next year. He also predicts that the budget for the development of this DLC will be 52 million zlotys (approximately $14.5 million).
CD Projekt’s most expensive game to date is Cyberpunk 2077, which cost an estimated $335 million, not including the Phantom Liberty expansion. The studio spent about $81 million on The Witcher 3.
Previously, CD Projekt co-chair Michal Nowakowski spoke about recruiting at the company and changes due to the growth of generative AI in the IT industry.
«We don’t hire 'classic' IT professionals, but I understand that we’re talking about talent in the gaming industry. The talent pool may have increased a bit over the last three years, but to be honest, I’m not sure it can be attributed to AI,» he said.
Nowakowski added that the company does not plan to reduce staff in the near future due to generative AI.
