China presents 4-meter humanoid capable of lifting over 500 kg (video)
Chinese robotics company NeodraDynamics has unveiled a giant humanoid robot called Neo1. The machine stands about 4 meters tall, weighs 1.2 tons, and is capable of lifting loads weighing more than 500 kilograms with its hands.
Chinese robotics company NeodraDynamics has unveiled a giant humanoid robot called Neo1. The machine stands about 4 meters tall, weighs 1.2 tons, and is capable of lifting loads weighing more than 500 kilograms with its hands.
The presentation of the development took place at the China International Industry Fair 2026, where the company exhibited the robot together with partner JD Industrial, Dexerto reports .
According to the company's press release, the Neo1 has 41 joints throughout its body. Its design combines hydraulics and electric motors:
the hydraulic system provides tremendous power, allowing you to lift up to 500 kg with two hands;
Electric motors are responsible for high accuracy of movements - positioning repeatability is up to 0.005 mm.
The developers note that Neo1 is designed for so-called "4D" tasks (from the English words dangerous, dirty, difficult, dull - dangerous, dirty, complex and routine work).
The scope of the robot includes:
assembly and movement of heavy structures in ports and factories;
maintenance of equipment at nuclear power plants and underwater;
clearing debris in mines and disaster areas.
A true super-humanoid hero I first saw Neo1 at WRC 2026 and was genuinely impressed. The 4-meter, 1.2-ton humanoid from Beijing-based NeodraDynamics has returned at CIIF 2026. Neo1 is built for 4D work-- heavy assembly, deep-sea operations, port and mine material handling, nuclear facility maintenance and fuel transfer, emergency rescue, and high-altitude construction...These are dangerous, dirty, high-intensity jobs it is designed to take on in place of people. It uses a hydraulic-electric hybrid drive with 41 active DoF-- 39 hydraulically actuated joints and two electrically driven forearm rotations. Each arm is rated for a 300 kg payload, with a combined two-arm payload of 500 kg. Its dexterous hands claim 500 kgf of grip force and 0.01 mm fingertip precision, while the arms have a 1.7-meter working radius. Neo1 is also designed for extreme environments, with claimed operating temperatures from −50°C to 250°C and depths of up to 10,000 meters, alongside tolerance to radiation, dust and vibration. NeodraDynamics is bringing Neo1 into JD Industrial's supply chain and industrial sites to test how it performs in real-world applications.
NeodraDynamics founder Yang Tao emphasized that the unique design solves key problems in modern robotics: “Our hybrid hydraulic-electric technology solves fundamental problems of robot power and durability.”
JD Industrial is currently working with developers to test Neo1 in real-world industrial conditions, including pilot projects for its customers.
NeodraDynamics has not yet disclosed details about how the robot will move, whether it is controlled by an operator or works completely autonomously, or when it will be fully launched on the market.
