«A repeat offender, who already had a criminal record for robbery and drug trafficking, was looking for „easy“ money on Telegram in the summer of 2025 and agreed to cooperate with a representative of the Russian Federation. Now, for high treason under martial law, he faces life imprisonment, and his accomplices face up to 10 years behind bars,» writes the local publication «Poltavshchyna.»
As the investigation established, the man is suspected of directing enemy attacks on Poltava and revealing to the enemy the locations of air defense and military units.
In addition, according to the investigation, at the direction of the curators, the man went on a «business trip» to the Odessa region, where he prepared a report on the consequences of previous shelling.
The person under investigation used an anonymous chat in the messenger to transfer photos and precise geolocations.
The suspect also involved his roommate in this activity, in collusion with whom they tried to burn a military vehicle. It was during the attempt to destroy the jeep that the couple was detained by security forces. The suspects are currently in custody.
Recall that the SBU recently detained two residents of Izmail who agreed to register Starlink for the Russian occupiers. Now they also face life imprisonment.
The head of the information security and cybersecurity service of the NSDC apparatus, with whom we spoke, is convinced that all information from Telegram ends up with the Russian special services.
