On June 23, 2025, L’Oréal Groupe announced the first round of applications for the new Sustainable Innovation Accelerator program.
This ambitious program, with a budget of 100 million euros over the next 5 years, aims to address the industry’s most pressing challenges and accelerate L’Oréal’s ambitious sustainability goals.
In line with L’Oréal’s culture of innovation, the acceleration program focuses on the following key areas: low-carbon and climate-smart solutions, technologies for water sustainability, technologies based on natural resources, alternative ingredients and materials, moving away from fossil-based plastics and reducing plastic waste, circular economy and resource management, and sustainable and inclusive business models.
L’Oréal is partnering with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability (CISL) to find, identify, test and scale breakthrough solutions in the cosmetics industry. CISL’s extensive network of over 40,000 changemakers and deep expertise in business sustainability will provide essential support to selected participants throughout the 12-month program.
«At L’Oréal, we have always supported and developed innovation, collaborating with partners throughout the product lifecycle to drive positive change in the cosmetics industry,» said Ezgi Bárcenas, Corporate Responsibility Director of L’Oréal Groupe.
«As we work across our ecosystem to create a more sustainable future, we understand that we need to be more focused on finding, developing, and scaling leading solutions. We look forward to collaborating with innovators and problem solvers around the world,» she said.
James Cole, CISL Chief Innovation Officer and Canopy CEO, added: «In today’s changing world, collaboration is key to making significant progress. We are excited to partner with L’Oréal on this important initiative, where we can combine our expertise to find and accelerate commercially viable solutions to the challenges facing the beauty industry and beyond.»
We invite startups, SMEs, and companies with innovative solutions to apply. Successful candidates will receive a customized acceleration program that includes coaching, mentoring, and potential pilots and investment opportunities to support their innovations at scale.
