During the first month of testing 5G in Kyiv, 635,000 Vodafone subscribers tried it out

During the first month of open testing of the 5G network in Kyiv, over 635,000 unique subscribers used the service. During this time, users downloaded over 875 TB of traffic, which is equivalent to approximately 127,000 hours of 4K video.
This is evidenced by data from a press release from the mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine.
The company notes that after the initial hype, the load on the network did not decrease, but continued to grow. If on the first day of 5G operation in the capital, more than 25 TB was downloaded, then later the average daily figure reached more than 29 TB.
At the end of the month, the user activity rating in the capital changed. In terms of total 5G traffic, Shevchenkivskyi district retained first place, while Solomyanskyi rose to second place, ahead of Dniprovskyi.
Changes also occurred in the ranking by average traffic volume per base station. The leader in this indicator was Solomyanskyi district, which moved Holosiivskyi to second place. The top five most active districts also included Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi. The greatest progress was shown by Darnytskyi district, which rose from eighth to fifth place. In total, seven out of ten districts of the city changed positions in a month.

The 5G network in the capital has been deployed in all ten administrative districts using equipment from the European manufacturer Nokia in the 3500 MHz band. There is no additional fee for using the fifth-generation connection — traffic is charged according to the current terms of the subscriber’s 4G tariff.
Kyiv became the fourth settlement in Ukraine where Vodafone launched open 5G tests, after Lviv, Borodyanka and Kharkiv. In total, almost 1.3 million unique subscribers have already used the operator’s fifth-generation network in the country. The next city where 5G technology is planned to be tested will be Odesa.
