In recent days, the scandalous story of Nazariy Gusakov, a boy with a rare disease called SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), for whom Ukrainians massively collected donations both through social networks and the media, as well as with the assistance of many top bloggers, politicians, showbiz representatives, and other public figures, has not subsided. Journalists found out that the funds that Nazariy received as a result of the collections allegedly significantly exceed the needs for his treatment, not to mention the fact that part of the medications were provided by the Lviv City Council.

«Regarding the situation with Nazariy Gusakov. He was collecting money for treatment and collected a lot. By the way, he collected it not only in the Bank, but also in Privat’s accounts. At the moment, it seems that he cheated and used the money for other purposes. It is difficult for me to evaluate and act as an arbitrator here,» writes Gorokhovsky in his Telegram channel.
He added that he once shared his collection on his channel at the request of a friend. «I do not know Nazariy personally and have never communicated with him. Monobank managers did not provide any assistance to Nazariy in his collection, did not help him withdraw money, and everything happened with him on a general basis. We are currently conducting an additional investigation to see if there were any violations and what can be changed to increase the transparency of the collection,» Gorohovsky noted.
According to the businessman, the bank has currently restricted withdrawals from Gusakov’s accounts. «By the way, there are balances in Nazariy’s bank and further withdrawals from the bank will be possible only against bills issued for treatment,» he explained.
«His actions are causing reputational damage to my business. Do I hold a grudge against him or do I feel anger? No. I still feel very sorry for him. I fear that the resonance surrounding this story and, as a result, the loss of trust and lack of desire to help sick people in the future will ultimately deprive them of their chances of getting help,» the co-founder of monobank philosophically concluded the post.
