The National Center of Folk Culture «Ivan Honchar Museum» has updated its website and added a hundred digitized ancient embroidered shirts from Zhytomyr, Volyn, Poltava, Cherkasy, and other regions.
PLATFOR.MA agency reports that the collection includes early men’s, women’s and children’s clothing collected by Ivan Gonchar, as well as shirts rescued by the community of the «Common Heritage» initiative. It is expected that several hundred more digitized samples from the archives and the fund collection will appear on the platform in the coming months.
«Today, museums are becoming custodians of the past and a starting point for new vision and thinking, which together are active factors in creating the future. More and more institutions are digitizing their collections and placing them on online platforms to open access to cultural heritage. Digital accessibility is a step towards creating a barrier-free environment for all population groups,» the Honchar Museum notes.

An online presentation is planned for May 26, dedicated to active work on implementing inclusivity on the Ivan Honchar Museum website, in particular for users with visual impairments.
It is noted that digital accessibility has become one of the main areas of work on the site. Among the improvements: ensuring sufficient contrast of the text, compatibility of the site with screen readers, providing alternative text for images, adding audio descriptions to videos, etc.
dev.ua also talked about the VyshyvAI service — a website with an AI platform for creating personalized embroidered shirts. Users can encode any meaning into the embroidery by writing it in text. AI can turn quotes into unique patterns, which manufacturers then embroider on clothes. The algorithm analyzes the input data and creates a design that combines traditional Ukrainian motifs with modern trends.
