This was reported by Reuters, citing Roskomnadzor, which stated that Roblox is «overfilled with inappropriate content that can negatively affect the spiritual and moral development of children».
Roblox, which has 151.5 million daily active users, has been banned in several countries, including Iraq and Turkey, over concerns that criminals could use the platform to abuse children.
Roblox has faced criticism in the past for allowing children to access inappropriate content and communicate with adults. The platform was sued in several US states over child safety concerns. The company responded with updates that prohibit children from communicating with adult strangers.
Roblox developers say they are strictly committed to ensuring user safety, including through artificial intelligence tools, moderation teams, and collaboration with law enforcement and child safety experts.
Last year, Roskomnadzor sent a notice to the language learning app Duolingo, warning the company about «the ban on publishing materials that promote non-traditional sexual relations» and the fines that could be imposed in Russia. The agency later announced that the service had removed all of its content containing «LGBT propaganda.»
